Glossary of terms.

If someone says "Natural light photography" what they really mean is "I don't know how to use lighting equipment". If they say "On location photography" they mean "I don't have a real studio". If they say "fresh, unposed look", it means they haven't taken any training in positioning your family to look their best. If they say "specializing in babies, children, families, seniors, weddings, pets, events, and commercial photography", they don't specialize in anything.

Don't settle. Demand professional people, and professional equipment.

  1. If they don't even know what resolution their camera takes photos at, they really don't know what they are doing.

If they suggest that you make "three easy payments" on their photograph, they don't have your best interests in mind. Sure, a family portrait is priceless, but one doesn't need to go into debt to get a photo worth remembering in an emergency.

    DS Portraits, you disappoint me.

  2. Dear Anonymous... far too many people claim to be professional photographers that really and truly "don't know what they are doing". It's like owning a pair of pliers and claiming to be a plumber, or having a hammer and announcing that your now a carpenter.

As for going into debt... apparently your single. A newly engaged couple has much to spend. Rings, the dress, the reception hall, the food... and the same can be said about a brand new baby. Doctor bills, diapers, formula, baby sitters. And what about family portraits? The bills never end just because your a little older. But, these milestones are important! If no other success can compensate for failure in the home, than our families are IMPORTANT! More so than a new flat screen tv, or the latest iPhone. A family portrait prominently displayed shows your priorities. We at DS portraits bend over backwards to help. First, our prices are very reasonable, (just call our comparable competition, but make sure they are certified photographers through the Professional Photographers of America). Second, we offer lay away. Let us capture the moment now, and you can pay later. In addition, (as you mentioned) you can break down your payments, interest free, over a couple different paydays! We do accept all major credit cards, and of course... your welcome to pay cash.

So Anonymous... I may disappoint you, but you are disappointing those that love you. Some day, your children, your grandchildren, and all the members of your family will think the world of you, and would have liked a reminder on the wall that you put your family first.

  3. If you think we don't know the resolution of our pro cameras, your dead wrong. We have multiple cameras, each with different capabilities and different resolution. But, really I could do just as good with a pocket camera. It's experience and knowledge along with professional equipment that makes a good portrait.
